Mahagon
«Mahagon» stands for songs, dancing, humor and love. It’s six merry men and one hot-spirited woman. It’s a trombone, guitars and a saxophone.
Back in 2009, when the band «Lyube» celebrated its 20 anniversary, «Oasis» broke up and «Pole Chudes» aired its 1000 episode, a new star was born in Chisinau – the band «Mahagon». And although the band was new, none of the band members lacked experience – each of them had his/her own artistic history worth of several years.
The band’s perennial leader Denis Ahramenko assembled a group which strictly consisted of veteran instrumentalists. The number of ensembles these musicians have been a part of is quite impressive! You have your long-hair metal, your wild folk, you outright pop music verging on «Laskovyi Mai», and even classic orchestras, where wearing a tuxedo is a must. Ultimately this cocktail of genres gave birth to «Mahagon’s» unique style, which includes fun, romantic lyrics, wild, knock-off-your-feet energy and last but not least, a silky female timbre.
